Message from the President
On the pages of this newsletter you will read about our successful Spay Day and
Adoptathon campaigns, about our low-cost vaccine, microchip and book sale clinics on the last Sunday of every month, the water mister system in the dog runs, our microscope grant and much more. During the past 8 months, we fostered 21 newborn puppies, 9 newborn kittens and rescued or arranged the rescue of numerous adult dogs and cats through other rescue organizations. Of course our landmark accomplishment came in February when the Board of Supervisors approved a recommendation to change the adoption policy and require all animals be spayed/neutered prior to leaving the shelter ? we continue to work closely with county officials to complete this important objective.
Every bit of what we have accomplished has come as a result of the dedicated and hard working individuals of the Friends? Executive Board ? they give tirelessly of their time, and talent. It happens as a result of a core of volunteers that haul books, walk dogs, knock on doors for donations, bathe animals, network with rescue groups, examine and vaccinate animals and work late into the night on yet another project. YOU are the reason we have been successful.
In the coming months, we will continue to work on securing our non-profit 501(3)(c) status, our ?shelter rescue dog? project, improving our animal health care program, and increasing membership.
I am honored to have the support of the many individuals, organizations and businesses that have contributed to the Friend?s first 8 months of providing for Placer County Animal Shelter?s future.
Sincerely,
Rosemary Frieborn
