SMOKEE IS AS GOOD AS NEW
What happens when Placer County Animal Shelter calls to say they have a young cat with an old pelvic fracture and ask if we'll take him to our adoption center? Well, you go get him and take him to the best orthopedic surgeons in the foothills and that's what we did.
Smokee's rear leg seemed to have a brain center all its own. Chasing after a ball in one direction, his back leg wanted him to go in another --the result..... KABOOM!!
After some x-rays, Dr. Tom Sheriff at North Fork Veterinary Clinic concluded that Smokee's old injury could be repaired with surgery. "We see a lot of dogs and cats with this type of injury," said Dr. Tom. "They do really well after surgery."
And while Smokee insisted on giving everyone at the hospital "love bites" to show his gratitude, the staff fell in love with his charming character. Next stop? Now that he's good as new, he'll be looking for a good new home.
Although we have said it before, it bears repeating, we could not give them a new lease on life without your support. Thank You!!
