Foster Care Program
Being a foster parent is like being a grandparent?all the enjoyment of playing with and caring for animals without the lifetime responsibility. A foster parent provides a temporary home for an animal-in-need. Foster parents can provide interim care and affection for kittens or puppies too young for adoption, for cats with upper respiratory infection, and for adult dogs recovering from surgery. Foster homes are always needed for animals that are not yet ready for adoption. Necessary supplies, including blankets, food, medicine, etc. are provided. Foster Parents simply provide plenty of TLC. In short, our foster program is an incredibly powerful tool for reducing the euthanasia rate by providing additional shelter.
If you can help, please contact Katie Aguirre, Program Coordinator, at 530-878-2139.
Our Friends for Life
As our adoptions increase through our foster program, we are finding it more difficult to keep in contact with all the families that gave a shelter animal a second chance. As a foster parent, these critters are always in our thoughts. The cats, kittens, dogs and puppies that were a part of our life for a few months or even years are our friends for life.
If you?ve adopted from us and have a moment, please drop us a line (include a picture too). Knowing our efforts have touched so many lives and made a difference is the stuff that keeps us going.
